In The Beginning
"In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth." (Genesis 1:1, KJV)
Before sound, there was silence—
alive, pregnant with all that could be.
Before the first moment, there was God:
unseen, unbound, the stillness breathing life into motion.
The earth was without form, and void.
Darkness covered the deep.
And the Spirit of God moved over the waters—
hovering, certain, poised.
A quiet power stirred the depths.
Then came the voice:
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. (Genesis 1:3 KJV)
Light pierced the darkness.
Not borrowed from sun or star,
pure energy itself—eternal, whole.
It revealed, divided, illuminated.
And God saw that the light was good.
The Spark: Days 1 to 3
Day One: Light Emerges
Day divided from night,
clarity carving through chaos.
The rhythm began.
And God saw that it was good.
Day Two: The Vault of Heaven
The sky stretched wide,
a canopy separating waters above from waters below.
An expanse for the unfolding story.
And God saw that it was good.
Day Three: The Earth Awakens
Waters gathered.
Land rose like hands reaching skyward.
Green burst forth—trees like pillars,
vines weaving upward,
seeds alive with promise.
The earth exhaled abundance.
And God saw that it was good.
Each day ends with the refrain:
It was good.
Filling the Glow: Days 4 to 6
Day Four: Light Finds Its Vessels
The sun blazed,
the moon rose,
stars scattered—
sparks from eternity’s forge.
Light took purpose, marking seasons, guiding wanderers.
And God saw that it was good.
Day Five: The Waters and Skies Sing
Seas teemed with life—
fish weaving threads of light,
whales breaching, songs rising like prayers.
Above, wings carved hymns into the sky.
The waters and skies sang.
And God saw that it was good.
Day Six: The Earth Roars with Life
The earth stirred,
calling forth creatures of every kind—
the lion’s roar, the ox’s strength,
the serpent weaving through dust.
Then the voice spoke again:
"Let us make man in our image." (Genesis 1:26, KJV)
Dust stirred. Breath filled lungs.
Humanity rose—not just formed, but called:
to name, to tend, to flourish.
And God saw all He had made,
and it was very good.
The Quiet Flame: Day Seven
"So God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made." (Genesis 2:3, KJV)
And then, silence again.
Not the stillness of before, but the fullness of after.
The seventh day was not absence, but completion—
a sacred rhythm, woven into creation:
to pause, to breathe, to dwell in the goodness already given.
It was not just good.
It was holy.
The Light That Remains
This is Genesis: the dawn of all things.
Light before vessels.
Order before form.
Life before breath.
A Creator spoke, and it was so—
each word carving boundaries into chaos,
beauty from void, rhythm into existence.
The rhythm still beats in every sunrise,
every seed taking root,
every pause that whispers:
"It is good. It is very good."
And still, creation sings:
"Let there be…"
